Yes, the rumors were true. Meet the new Sidekick LX, the first Sidekick to come with both 3G and GPS support, as well as what looks to be a gorgeous new display.Slated to arrive May 13 for $199 with a two-year contract and mail-in rebate (current T-Mobile subscribers can pre-order starting today, April 17), the new LX looks a lot like the Sidekicks of old.
The famous swing-up display is still present, along with the roomy QWERTY keypad that sits behind the screen. You also get the same navigational keys (including the ever-present Jump key) and trackball, plus carbon and orchid finishes and "mood" lights along the top of the display.
Under the hood, though, we can expect full-on 3G data access, good for speedy Web browsing (at last) and streaming music and videos (including YouTube). Also on board: GPS, plus Microsoft's Live Search; still no work on turn-by-turn navigation, though.
